VIDEO: Pig Beach, The Bahamas Island Where Pigs And Humans Swim Together

IG Beach, also known as Pig Island (yes, pigs have an island named after them and you don’t), was one of our favourite discoveries in 2013. It’s an uninhabited island located in the Bahamas.

The video below shows pigs enjoying the island life and swimming with passing tourists. The pigs, despite being raised in the wild, appear friendly (dog-like even).

Legend has it that the pigs were dropped off on the island by sailors, who planned to come back and cook them. However, the sailors never returned and the pigs survived by eating scraps dumped from passing boats. Other tales include: the pigs being shipwrecked survivors, the pigs were escapees from a nearby islet, and the pigs were intentionally put there to attract tourists.

The pigs are now fed by locals and tourists, enjoying the beautiful and sunny life we humans can only dream of.
